Welcome to St Mary’s CE First School and Nursery.
Welcome to St Mary’s CE (C) First School. We hope that our website provides you with the information you need about our wonderful village school.
At St Mary’s we are committed to providing the highest standards of teaching and learning and a wide range of opportunities for our children. To achieve this, we continue to reflect on and develop our provision to ensure that every child is able to reach their full potential. We pride ourselves on our welcoming and nurturing environment with relationships built on mutual respect.
Our school has a dedicated and enthusiastic team who, through a combination of challenge, support, encouragement and praise work hard to give the very best education to our children. Our motto ‘helping each other to do our best’ encourages every child to develop a strong sense of responsibility for themselves, their peers and the wider world.
We are a forward-thinking school and are fortunate to work closely with our federated school, Brewood CE Middle School, as well as with other schools within the Wolgarston collaboration. Through these partnerships, we are able to share expertise to ensure that we provide children with a stimulating and engaging learning environment so that they are able to achieve well in all aspects of school life.
We are extremely proud of our school community and would be delighted to welcome potential new children and parents. To visit the school, or for further information please contact us on 01785 840314 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Mr D Swift and Mrs Stanford
The children of St Mary’s represented the school fantastically at this wonderful community event.
We were in fine voice as we took to the stage to sing some well-known Christmas songs.
We drew an enormous crowd and sang with enthusiasm and passion.
Well done children!
Rocksteady Music School and 1:1 music tuition sessions have started and once again we have many pupils from across the school learning lots of different instruments. If your child has shown an interest in learning an instrument, please speak to Mr Alexander who will be happy to help.
Lunchtime Art Club sessions have begun and the pupils have already enjoyed using casting techniques to make sculptures of their hands and feet! Another brilliant opportunity for our children to express their creativity.
Forest School sessions are well underway in Year 3 and 4. Mrs Williams and her forest school pupils have been busy enjoying lots of outdoor learning opportunities. We have now named Friday ‘Forest School Friday’ in Key Stage 2 and look forward to rolling this out across the school as the academic year progresses.
Our school community enjoyed a wonderful Harvest Service at St Mary’s Church, led by our confident Year 2 pupils. Parents and children gave thanks for the Harvest and shared their thoughts and prayers for those less fortunate than ourselves.
Our Year 3 and 4 pupils were excited to hear about the work and writing of Laura Ellen Anderson as they visited Wolverhampton Grammar school to hear about what inspired her to become a writer and illustrator
Our Year 3 and 4 pupils enjoyed an inspiring visit to Wolverhampton Grammar school to listen to visiting author Megan Rix.
Our children were excited to return to school and particularly enjoyed our Roald Dahl themed day. The children arrived at school dressed as characters from one of our favourite author’s books and enjoyed taking part in different Roald Dahl themed activities throughout the day.
