Welcome to the Local Academy Committee of the Brewood and Wheaton Aston Federation.  Our Committee members are listed below. All time is given freely and there are no expenses for these roles. Time is spent both attending formal committee meetings and visiting school regularly (when it is safe to do so), to support teaching, learning and the wider activities of the school. Miss J Watts

My name is Jenny Watts. I am in my first year working at St Mary’s CE First Academy as Reception class teacher as well as EYFS Lead and Senior Teacher. This is my 8th year of teaching having worked in Year 1 and Reception previously.

I am very passionate about ensuring every child has the best possible journey in school, so that each child can achieve their true potential both academically, socially and emotionally.

As a Local Academy Committee member, I am looking forward to being able to gain more opportunities to work alongside staff and our community to ensure our pupils are receiving a broad, inspiring and developing curriculum.

 

Mrs S Bradley-Richards – Vice Chair

My name is Suzanne Bradley-Richards, I have been a governor for 26 years on different governing bodies. I was a Foundation Governor at the Federation and also work in the admin team at Brewood. I am married with two grown up daughters. My hobbies are Walking, cooking, travelling and looking after and playing with my two adorable grandsons. I am passionate about my role as a member of the LAC and promoting the School ethos.

 

Miss V Evans – Chair

I have worked in education for over thirty years. I spent my first five years as a nursery nurse in a special school before completing my education degree. I have been a teacher for 23 years and have taught from nursery to Year Six. For ten years, I have been a head teacher / Principal.  I have been Head teacher at three schools and have worked as a Principal for St Chad’s Trust for four years. I am passionate about providing the very best education for all my pupils as well as supporting their families.

 

Revd S Douglas

Originally from the south of England, I moved to the West Midlands 25 years ago, and spent 13 years in Wolverhampton before moving to Brewood in 2023. Before training for ordained ministry in the Church of England, I taught Maths and ICT, including as middle leadership in secondary schools in London and Birmingham.

As an experienced governor, I have served on governing boards for more than 20 years, across 3 local authorities, including 7 years as chair. I have worked with church and community schools, in federations and academies, and I have also served as academy director.

As vicar of Brewood and Bishops Wood, I am keen to strengthen the link between church and school, developing the Christian distinctiveness of our schools, and I make it a priority to visit school frequently, to support worship, meet with pupils and staff and support lessons, welcoming our schools into church, and exploring other ways we can work together to benefit our children and hence our communities.

I am also governor of St. Mary & St. Chad CE First School, Brewood, and trustee of the Brewood Parochial Charities.

 

Mrs L Ryan

I’m delighted to join the Local academy Committee as a parent representative. My background is 34 years in banking, in a variety of senior roles, which has given me a comprehensive understanding of the financial aspects of businesses as well as experience of dealing with people from all different backgrounds. In my spare time I mentor both businesses & individuals & undertake various voluntary activities to try to give back something to the communities in which I work.

My children have both attended St Mary’s & Brewood & in taking on this responsibility, it enables me to give back to the school some of the support they have shown my children. I would be delighted to hear your views so please reach out to me if there is anything you would like to discuss or share with me.

 

Mrs L Grigg

I am delighted to be a new parent member of the Local Academy Committee supporting both St Mary’s CE First Academy and Brewood CE Middle Academy.  I am looking forward to ensuring that all pupils receive the highest standard of teaching and are supported to become well rounded and confident individuals.

With my background in education, initially as a primary school teacher and more recently working in administration in a local school, I feel my knowledge of the inner workings of a school means I am well-equipped to contribute effectively and help support the vision of St Chad’s Academies Trust.

I have three young children who attend St Mary’s and Brewood Middle.  As a family we enjoy going on walks in our beautiful local countryside as well as reading and going to the theatre.

I will endeavour to support both academies in achieving their strategic goals and enhancing educational outcomes.  I look forward to working with fellow committee members, staff, and parents to provide the best possible education for our children.
