St Mary’s Pupil Leaders
Student Council

The St Mary’s Student Council is made up of two or three children from each class.
The members are voted for by their class peers and are our ‘school voice’. During the election the candidates gave a presentation entitled ‘why they would make a great candidate’ and the children voted using ballot papers.

The Team are involved with many aspects of school life, such as deciding how school funds are spent. They also help organise ‘Walk to school’ weeks, the termly Food Bank appeals, and much more!

They meet once every three weeks and then share their discussions with their class.

Worship Team

These children lead our whole school worships and individual class worship. They are a trusted face around the school for our other children and help to promote and embed our Christian values of respect, friendship and belief. They meet with Rev. Alex to plan and deliver our worships both in school and in church.

Eco Council

 Our Eco Council aims to reduce the school’s environmental footprint, educate the wider school community on crucial issues such as climate change and pollution, promote biodiversity and teach responsibility, whilst developing leadership skills, improving pupil well-being, and often saving money through reduced energy and waste.

Reading Council

These pupils lead reading throughout the school and are there to help, support and promote reading for pleasure. Weekly meetings take place where the children bring new ideas to inspire and encourage the rest of the school to read a variety of texts and to foster a love of reading. They will be looking after our new Junior Librarian system when it is launched and very soon they will be running their first reading competition for the academic year.
