Curriculum Introduction

At St Mary’s, we believe that every child has the right to access, enjoy and flourish in a broad and balanced curriculum. We believe that our rural setting provides a wonderful base for all learning and our outward looking curriculum enables this by encouraging and challenging our  children to look out to their families, village, county and world. We believe that our children should have a wide range of experiences both within our school and away from it to both enrich their learning but also challenge them to think about the positive impact they can have on themselves and society today as children and in the future as adults.

Our Curriculum prepares pupils at St Mary’s for  both further education at middle school as well as the prospects, responsibilities and experiences of later life, through an engaging, progressive and well-constructed approach using topics. These topics build on the knowledge, understanding and skills of all children, as they progress through each Key Stage. They also ensure our children continue to build upon our values of belief, respect and friendship in practical, logical and theoretical ways.

All staff work within the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage; in order to provide the very best education for the children in our care.
